Am I the only one
who wants to see New Orleans flood again just so I can shout "WHY DOES OBAMA HATE BLACK PEOPLE!"?

Skunks, Tejas.
Some comments for this story:
1. Women shoot like they drive.
2. She shot the wrong skunk.
3. stolen from the comments of the article: Its her story and she sticking with it. P.S_ skunk is slang for cheating husband.

Don't forget the first.
With all the calls to infringe on our second amendment rights coming as a result of some asshole in Colorado, lets not forget our first amendment rights.
The endless attention the media gives this tragedy will result in copy cats. It happened before with the school shootings. It will happen again. The media is partially to blame.
Why isn't anybody (besides me) suggesting we put a muzzle on the media? Lets get rid of all of our freedoms.

Chicken Math
Raising your own chickens for meat is stupid. You have about $1.50 per pound into them and you can buy chicken for 69 cents per pound on sale. Well you could; who knows what the high corn prices are going to do to our food bills.
Then you have the work of raising them and butchering them. I did 8 yesterday. It took 4 hours. It is a shame that I feel the need to raise chickens every few years to remind myself why I don't raise chickens.
There are some things that could make it better. I need a better setup to raise them. I could let them free range, and feed them less. They can eat bugs and graze, and perhaps my feed bill will be lower. I also need a better setup to butcher. Specifically, I need to build my own tub plucker. That would take about 60% of the work and time out of it. Probably cost a hundred bucks, and then I have to raise even more chickens to justify it.
On the plus side, I now have some home grown chicken. It just tastes a little better. Also, my four year old daughter helped me butcher. Mostly she just got dirty, but she did help hold the chickens while I trussed their feet and she helped pull some feathers. I think it is good for her to understand where our food comes from, instead of growing up into a urbanized wuss who would starve to death if she couldn't get her chicken in the form of a nugget. Either that or I am raising her to be a homicidal terror. She seemed to be enjoying the process.

Chickens on the roof
My barn is falling down. This does great harm to the chicken pen inside*. The door frame is warped due to the barn taking on a lean, leaving a gap under the door. Some of my chickens found the gap, and were outside the pen when I came to feed them. I had blocked the gap with a roll of chicken wire but somehow they moved it. So I figured I'd leave it open and let them free range.
Oops. I come home and the fat broilers are there but the layer chicks were not. Two were on the barn roof. Several had climbed up to the hayloft where a section of it had fallen partially down. Once there, two had taken the further step of going through a hole in the roof to get onto the roof. The rest of the chicks were still in the hay loft.
I chased one off the roof by spraying water with the hose. The other wouldn't come. By nightfall, they were all at least off the roof. Which is good, there are owls about.
This morning some were back ready to be fed, but about 4 were still up in the loft. By a rough count, I haven't lost any yet. I am guessing they will come down when they get hungry enough. I am not going up after them.
* I do have another pen in another building. I just need to butcher the broilers and the mean rooster and then the layer chicks can be integrated with the hens I have now. That should happen this weekend. How the heck I catch the little buggers I don't know.

Leftists is so stupid
Scranton Pa is out of money. So the mayor cuts everyone's pay, including his own, to minimum wage. The liberal solution? Same as always, sue.
That'll show 'em. I'm sure when they win the city will pony up. The math will bend to fit your whim, libs. The unions broke a few big companies. The big companies decide to go overseas. The unions decide to go after the government. Big win boys. The government isn't going to leave at least. At the end of the day, those city employees work for the people, and the people are eventually going to start wondering why government employees make so much more than they do, and quite often don't work as hard for it.
Some funny comments after the article about how we need to tax the rich more. I don't know how they run things over there, but here our city runs on sales tax, and to a small extent, property tax. So there is no power to tax the rich, other than increase their property tax. I'll bet that will work.
Coming soon to a city near you.

odds, ends
If the Governor of Wisconsin should find himself unemployed today, I would like him to know that if it were up to me, he'd be hired as President of the United States immediately. Too much in this world is not up to me. Which may be a good thing; I only have superficial knowledge of the guy. That superficial knowledge thing didn't work out too well with the Democrats and Obama.
Today is primary day in my state. I had no idea. The nomination process is all but over. I still wanted to cast my vote for Ron Paul, but I will not be able to do so, as I will not get home till the polls close. A futile effort at any rate.
Update: I don't know the final results, but Romney had 72% and Ron Paul had 12%. with about 72 percent reporting. Not too bad for someone not running anymore.

It does a body good.
Res posted on government bureaucrats raiding farms over raw milk.
Rand Paul introduced an amendment to disarm the FDA. Why they are armed in the first place I can't guess. Of course we can't be trusted to know what is best for us, so the amendment was defeated. I wish every news story on the actions of Congress had a link that would give a roll call on how each Senator voted on the issue.
After a few minutes searching I found one. Since only 15 Senators voted for the amendment, chances are yours aren't on there. One from my state is.
I don't think I will waste time trying to chastise the other for not voting for this common sense amendment. We will be seeing aerial acrobatics from swine before he ever gets my vote. He's a liberal, and I think he's on the way out anyway.

If I were running.
My platform:
Repeal Obamacare. Remove restrictions on health insurance being sold across state lines. Tort Reform.
Deport illegals. Punish those who violate the law by hiring them.
End the failed war on some drugs. I was reading a magazine article about informants from one cartel helping DEA by informing on their enemies. As a result their own cartel now is very strong and knows how the DEA operates. Any fool can see we are losing this war.
Repeal the various gun control acts.
Cut social programs. Immediate means testing for Social Security. Raise the retirement age by 3 months per year till we get to 75. Roll back the Bush drug benefit. Yes, everyone paid. I am paying, and I won't see any benefits. I don't see why later generations are the only ones that need to get screwed.
Cut unemployment off after 6 weeks. Or abolish it altogether. Cut food stamps. I would make "social justice" the responsibility of the churches again.
Cut the size of govt and the number of govt employed by at least 40%. Freeze govt wages. Freeze govt workers.
Remove some of the alphabet soup agencies. BATFE, FEMA, DEA, would be gone, there are many others. Edit: Department of Education....
Reign in or remove Homeland Security. Repeal the patriot act. Privatize airport security.
Set the corporate income tax to 0%. Companies do not pay taxes, they merely collect them. Therefore corporate income tax is just a hidden tax on consumers. This will free up resources to hire more workers and stimulate industry.
I would actually have an energy policy. I would end all subsidies to green energy. I would stop the foot dragging on drilling permits and pipelines.
Investigate Solyndra, prosecute the Black Panthers,
End farm subsidies.
I would look at ways to cut regulations.
I would end that practice of Congress exempting themselves from laws and make them subject to programs like Obamcare and Social Security like the rest of us.
End the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe Germany, Japan, and Korea, as well.
Propose a budget. Make the hard choices to end the deficit.
Open season on lawyers.
Southern California would be left as a haven for liberal policies until we can fence it off from the rest of the country. At which point it would be sold to Mexico for $1.
Of course there is more that I have not thought of, and nobody would vote for me anyway. But the above represents what needs to be done in order to save us from collapse. We are so going to collapse.
Edit: Get rid of the Federal Reserve. Roast Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke and Paul Krugman on a spit.

Real life intrudes.
Blogging will be light. Gotta build a couple roads. It is a good thing our government has lots of money to build roads where we need them and where we don't. I would starve to death otherwise. In case you are curious, one road is important, is 40 years old, and has lot of traffic and needs to be done. The other is only politically important and already is better than most of the county roads in the area. In my opinion it is a pure waste of money to rebuild it. When it is done it will be the envy of towns with 10 times the population.
Yes, I know uncertain my future is given that almost all my income is dependent on the dot gov that is trying to spend itself into oblivion.
I try not to think about it.

Range Report
Yesterday I made my first bullets. I was given a Lee lead furnace and I had bought moulds. I've had them for quite awhile. I don't know what I was waiting for, other than nice weather and a little free time.
I (sort of) followed the manufacturers directions to prepare the mold, but I didn't have alox lube, so I used the lee liquid alox. I plugged in the furnace, and soon had liquid metal. I skimmed the dross off the top with a screwdriver. Need to acquire or improvise a lead dipper.
The first pair of bullets out of the two cavity mold had one perfect, and one not so good. After awhile, I figured out the bottom pour pot, and my mould got heated up properly, and I started getting mostly good bullets without running molten metal all over the place.
A stopped when I had about 50. I lubed them with the tumble lube. I bought lee tumble lube moulds, as I figured that sounded the easiest. No sizing really necessary, unlike other types. I expect I may need to size for my .45 acp, so I bought the sizing die for that.
The tumble lube is supposed to dry overnight. I didn't wait. I loaded five and shot them with a mild load. Then I loaded those five cases and about 30 others with a full power blue dot load.
I went outside and shot most of them. I wish I could tell you how accurate they are, but I am a terrible shot with my .44. I got about a 3" group from a standing position from 30 feet. I don't think that says anything about the loads, rather my poor shooting ability with a handgun.
Next, I suppose I'll have to buy about 50 lbs of lead.
